Ginger Water Recipe
Ginger water is a simple, refreshing drink made by steeping fresh ginger in hot water. It can be enjoyed warm or chilled.

Ingredients
- 2 inches (5 cm) fresh ginger root
- 4 cups (1 liter) water
- 1–2 tablespoons honey (optional)
- Juice of ½ lemon (optional)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ginger
- Wash the ginger thoroughly.
- Peel it if desired (the peel is edible if well cleaned).
- Slice it thinly or grate it for a stronger flavor.
2. Boil the Water
Bring the 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
3. Simmer
Add the ginger to the boiling water, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 10–15 minutes. For a stronger infusion, simmer up to 20 minutes.
4. Strain
Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain out the ginger pieces.
5. Flavor (Optional)
Stir in honey while the water is still warm, then add lemon juice if desired.
6. Serve
- Enjoy warm, or
- Let it cool and refrigerate for a refreshing cold drink. Serve over ice if you like.
Storage
Store ginger water in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
