The trick to cleaning the oven ‘effortlessly’. Even the burnt-on grease disappears

The Trick to Cleaning the Oven “Effortlessly” — How to Remove Burnt-On Grease

A dirty oven with baked-on grease can look impossible to clean, but with the right method you can loosen stubborn buildup without hours of scrubbing. The key is softening the grease first so it wipes away more easily.

🧽 What You Need

  • Baking soda
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar (optional)
  • Warm water
  • Spray bottle
  • Soft sponge or microfiber cloth
  • Scraper or old spatula (for stubborn spots)
  • Rubber gloves

Step 1: Remove Oven Racks

Take out the racks and soak them separately:

  1. Place racks in a bathtub or large container.
  2. Add hot water.
  3. Add dish soap and a few tablespoons of baking soda.
  4. Let soak for several hours.
  5. Scrub and rinse.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Paste

Mix:

  • ½ cup baking soda
  • A few tablespoons of warm water
  • A small squeeze of dish soap

You want a thick paste that spreads easily.

Step 3: Apply to the Oven

  1. Make sure the oven is cool.
  2. Spread the paste over greasy areas.
  3. Focus on:
    • Bottom of the oven
    • Corners
    • Areas with burnt spills

Avoid putting paste directly on:

  • Heating elements
  • Gas openings
  • Electrical parts

Step 4: Let It Sit

For best results:

⏰ Leave it for 6–12 hours (overnight works well).

The paste helps soften baked-on grease.

Step 5: Wipe Away the Dirt

  1. Use a damp cloth or sponge.
  2. Remove loosened grease.
  3. For tough spots, gently scrape with a non-sharp tool.

Step 6: Optional Vinegar Spray

Spray a small amount of white vinegar over leftover baking soda residue.

It will fizz and help loosen remaining grime.

Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

For Very Burnt Grease 🔥

Try:

  • Warm the oven slightly (not hot)
  • Apply the paste
  • Let it sit longer
  • Repeat if needed

Heavy buildup may need several rounds.

Tips to Keep Your Oven Cleaner Longer

✅ Wipe spills once the oven cools
✅ Use a baking sheet under messy dishes
✅ Clean the oven every few months
✅ Avoid letting grease bake on repeatedly

⚠️ Safety Note

Never mix baking soda/vinegar cleaning methods with commercial oven cleaners unless the product instructions allow it. Also avoid using harsh chemicals on self-cleaning oven surfaces unless approved by the manufacturer.

A little soaking time does most of the work—the “magic” is letting the cleaner loosen the grease before you wipe. 🧽✨
